Welcome to the new Cave Bluff website. We decided to create a place where people could learn more about what is happening with the trails and restorations on the bluff, and possibly volunteer to help out. It takes a lot of work to keep all the trails open and mowed, deal with downed trees, etc., and to keep up with invasives and prairie restoration. So if you want to get outside, get some exercise, and help keep our community trails in good shape, sign up!
We'll post about work we're doing, things to look out for, and any closures or hunting that is coming up.
If you go out for a walk right now you will catch the blooming blazing star (Liatris) and the fewleaf sunflower (Helianthus occidentalis), especially on the West Prairie (closest to the Summerville Park Rd trailhead). You'll also see the 6-7 foot big bluestem grass which took over the Star prairie from all the earlier rain we had. Last year during the drought it was sparse and barely got above 2 feet.
If you see anything that needs attention on the trails, such as downed limbs, feel free to email me at tim@eschers.com.
